Recently, I had to travel down to Melaka due to a family member being warded at the general hospital.
In between visiting hours, I had the chance to eat and film at a few places where you rarely see tourists.
These establishments have created food for the soul.
I truly envy Melakans who has the best of traditional Peranakan, Chinese, Malay, Indian and Portuguese food.
But there is more to Melakan food than the abovementioned.
One impressive find recently was a place called Nasi Kandar Bohari that just started operations a little more than a year ago.
In my opinion, this 24-hour mamak has the best Roti Naan (Naan Bread) and Chapati at the moment in Melaka.
These guys know their stuff, especially Mr. Waqas from Pakistan.
If you ever get the chance to visit, observe his passion and masterful skills in making the Naan Bread before it is slapped into the tandoor oven.

The normal plain Naan, Cheese Naan and Garlic Naan are expertly made by Mr. Waqas.
I must say that when I tried his Naan Breads for the first time, my first thoughts were, "this naan bread can fight with those found at Restoran Mahbub in Bangsar".
He is generous with roughly chopped garlic too, unlike most garlic naans you get at most mamak places that hardly has any garlic, but more ghee!
The dhal too is rich and creamy, just the way I love it.
The other item that really caught my taste buds was the chapati.
Seriously guys, words cannot describe enough the texture of the crispy outside and the flaky inside of the chapati.
Another legendary place that currently showcases simple and wholesome hawker food is Lian Pang Kopitiam.
They showcase the "infamous" Chilli Wantan Mee (sorry guys, I never liked it since young!), the famous Jonker Walk Curry Rice, Oyster Omelet, Nasi Lemak, my favourite Mee goreng with fried egg and sambal, plus many more.

After stuffing myself at Lian Pang, the next day I was taken to a place which I have longed wanted to try.
Tong Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice opened about a year ago and it does not dissapoint.
The Chicken Rice Ball is now to me, the best in the state of Melaka now!
Even the normal rice is satisfying enough with either the roast chicken or the boiled chicken (I prefer this!).
What's more, this kopitiam also features other dishes like meehoon kueh (a.k.a. pan mee), tomyum noodles, curry mee and many more.
I am please to report that after all the eating, my relative has been discharged from the hospital.
Grateful and thankful to the Universe.
