Titleist Introduces New Pro V1 and Pro V1x Golf Balls – Engineered for More Speed

2019 Models Provide Improved Tee-To-Green Performance with New High Optic Yellow Color Option Malaysia (Jan. 23, 2019)  – Faster from core to cover, the  new Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls  have been designed to leave the clubface with more ball speed and lower long game spin for more distance, while providing the best short game control to help golfers shoot lower scores. The advancements of 2019 Pro V1 and Pro V1x, underscore the Titleist R&D and Operations teams’ relentless mission to continuously improve the best performing, most consistent golf balls in the game.     “When we set out to develop the 2019 models, we found that golfers at every level are extraordinarily satisfied with the performance of their Pro V1 or Pro V1x. At the same time, golfers keep telling us they would still like more distance – as long as they don’t have to give anything else up,” said Michael Mahoney, Vice President, Golf Ball Marketing. “Through the prototyping process, our chemists and

SINGAPORE OPEN: ALL THAT JAZZ

PHOTO: LAGARDERE SPORTS Sentosa, Singapore, January 20:  Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond found his winning rhythm when he closed with a six-under-par 65 to take home the SMBC Singapore Open trophy for his third Asian Tour title and also seal his passage to The Open on Sunday. The 23-year-old arrived in Singapore on the back of a rich vein of form to establish himself as one of the genuine contenders for the prestigious SMBC Singapore Open trophy at the start of the week.  He did not disappoint as he shrugged off the challenges of a host of quality players including Sergio Garcia, Paul Casey and Davis Love III to become the third Thai after Thaworn Wiratchant (2001) and Prayad Marksaeng (2017) to lift his third Asian Tour title with a winning total of 18-under-par 266. "I wasn’t expecting to win actually. I was going for The Open ticket. I felt the pressure when I got to the back nine today. I had a three-shot lead after turning in 21. I know anything can happen on this c

AWARENESS LESSON: I AM YOU, YOU ARE ME

Article posted by Buddhist Boot Camp on January 20, 2014 on Facebook You don’t have to agree with, only learn to peacefully live with, other people’s freedom of choice. this includes (but is not limited to) political views, relig ious beliefs, dietary restrictions, matters of the heart and career paths. Our opinions and beliefs tend to change depending on time, place, and circumstance. and since we all experience life differently, there are multiple theories on what’s best, what’s moral, what’s right, and what’s wrong. It is important to remember that other people’s perspective on reality is as valid as your own. this is why the first principle of Buddhist Boot Camp is that the opposite of what you know is also true. YOSHINORI HOLDS ONE SHOT LEAD AT SINGAPORE OPEN

PHOTO: LAGADERE SPORTS Sentosa, Singapore, January 19:  Japan’s Yoshinori Fujimoto had a closing birdie to thank for giving him the outright lead after he signed for a third round five-under-par 66 at the SMBC Singapore Open on Saturday. The Japanese’s three-day total of 13-under-par 200 gave him a slender one-shot advantage over Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond and England’s Matthew Fitzpatrick who posted rounds of 65 and 66 respectively at the season-opening event of the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour Organisation (JGTO). " Glad that we finished the 3rd round before suspension. I was not expecting to finish when I was playing front-nine. From the 1st round, my shots were mostly straight so that was the cause for my good score. I’m really tired now, but at the same time I’m enjoying myself with the international players here. I just concentrate on my golf, so I am not thinking about that," said Yoshinori." "It is nice to have good result, winning the

THINGS THAT MAKE YOUR GOLF CLUB STANDOUT

If you are a member of a golf club, what are your expectations? Many Malaysian golfers that I have spoken to have always told me that they feel that they haven't got their money's worth. Some compare their clubs with those in Thailand and Indonesia. Most of the time, it is down to the smallest details and whatever budget is made available to the management and staff. And yes, golfers can be the most demanding consumers out there. Obviously so with the amount of life savings that they have spent on a membership, not to mention the monthly subscriptions. So, which part of the game would a golf club need to up their game on? There are so many touches that make a golf club appealing to its members and non-members. Here are some ideas and opinions from past experiences: 1) REGISTRATION COUNTER: Clubs must constantly train their front line staff to SMILE. Staff who are able to speak English, Bahasa Malaysia and other languages is a big asset. Speed of golfer reg

EQUIPMENT: SCOTTY CAMERON NEW SELECT FASTBACK 2 and SQUAREBACK 1.5 PUTTERS

If you haven't changed your putter in years, it is time to do so. To say the least, putting and using the right putter, has to be the most neglected part of every golfers game. Therefore, you may want to consider shopping for a new putter range from Titleist unveiled to the world recently. Scotty Cameron's two new mid-mallet models of Select putters – the  Select Fastback 2  and  Select Squareback 1.5 was   developed through feedback from the game’s best players. THAILAND'S POOM SAKSASIN SHARES SINGAPORE OPEN LEAD

PHOTO: LAGADERE SPORTS Sentosa, Singapore, January 18:  Poom showed he is the man for the big occasion again when he completed an exhausting day with a second round one-under-par 70 to share the clubhouse lead with England’s Paul Casey at the weather-hit SMBC Singapore Open on Friday. "It has been a long day but I am very happy. Although I only shot a one-under for my second round, I think it was a very nice round. The wind was picking up and my iron-play wasn’t that good. To come back with an under-par score, I am really happy with it," said t he 25-year-old Thai dubbed ‘The Baby-faced Assassin’ for his high-profile defeats of Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson and Paul Casey on the Asian Tour last year.   "I feel really tired now. I have to go back soon, get a shower and then go to sleep! Casey played really nicely today. He hit it so far on the eighth hole. I really like that shot. I have to follow my own style because he hit it long and I hit it short! But

TAIWAN'S HUNG LEADS SINGAPORE OPEN

Photo: Lagardère Sports Sentosa, Singapore, January 17:  Chinese Taipei’s Hung Chien-yao extended his bliss to the SMBC Singapore Open by carding a five-under-par 66 to snatch the first round clubhouse lead on Thursday. Together with the Japanese pair of Yuta Ikeda and Yoshinori, Philippines’ Miguel Tabuena also had a round to remember when he returned with a 67 to trial Hung by one shot at the US$1 million event. England’s Matthew Fitzpatrick, who is making his debut at the SMBC Singapore Open, was pleased to have completed his round before tropical storms halted play at the season-opening event of the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour Organisation (JGTO). The Englishman signed for a 68 which was matched by Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond and Malaysia’s Nicholas Fung.  Play was first suspended at 2.08pm (local time). It resumed at 5.30pm before being suspended again due to fading light at 7.10pm.  78 players will resume their first round at 7.30am on Friday morning with th

HOW YOUR GOLF COMPANY CAN SUCCEED IN BAD WEATHER

No, no, no... I don't have a crystal ball, and I don't need to peddle clickbait stories or sensationalize a story. Running a golf business in Malaysia is only confined to the passionate few who dare face numbers that don't add up. In 1999, a local publication and a very smart MGA official created a mathematical formula that put the total Malaysian golfing population at 190,000. From what one of them told me, those figures were based on the Malaysian Golf Association's current National Handicapping System and the number of golf members that each golf club had on average. That figure was a useful guide, and every accountant's nightmare should an investment study be done. Would you go into the golf retail business if you looked at that figure? The golf business is more than niche and takes a lot of love and perseverance. Firstly, who are the people that have gone into the golf business? Most were former engineers who made a lot of money from the booming

Post 2018: The State of Malaysian Golf

Sorry for this late post but I don't blog much. As you can tell, I have changed the previous blog name to Golf Paths. This is because I am very much linked with the golf business in my beloved Malaysia, and, I don't travel much these days. Signs of old age perhaps? Yes, I have stopped travelling to the world outside Malaysia for a long time. So far! After leaving Golf Digest Malaysia in February 2018, it has been a learning curve of sorts and being set free to say the least. I have been blessed to be accepted as a managing partner at Twenty First Century Media Sdn Bhd last year. It was a nostalgic return to the advertising and marketing communications industry. And boy, have I missed it. Creating ideas for brands and on-ground marketing activities is what I love doing the most. It is even more fun now with the "option" of digital disruption tools and social media platforms. As most new businesses go, acquiring jobs these days has been difficult t
