Mother's Day: Best quotes from mothers

Just woke up on a Sunday Mother's Day morning and needing something to read, I coincidentally retrieved an edition of the Reader's Digest from May 2014. Flipping through, I stopped at page 130. The headline - "Like my mother always said" caught my eye. They were some of the best quotes taken from a book written by Erin McHugh. I thought this would be apt on Mother's Day and be a source of inspiration and joy to all mothers, and children. Here are some of the standout quotes: 1. "Ask your father." Pat, mother of Marie Claire 2. "I don't care who started it. I'm finishing it now!" Helen, mother of John 3. "Always be happy for another person. Their success doesn't take anything away from you." Ellie, mother of Wendy 4. "Don't be impressed by a man's car - he may be living in it!" Carolyn, mother of Melody 5. "You're not hungry. Your mouth is bored." Joalice, mother of Sh

THERE'S A WATER BUFFALO ON THE GOLF COURSE!

A new breed of greenskeepers are now being used to groom Laguna Lang Co, Vietnam. Already one of Vietnam’s leading golf layouts, the golf course is staying at the top of its maintenance game by utilizing the talents of a very special group of greenkeepers - a family of water buffalo. At Laguna Golf Lang Co though, the legwork involved in maintaining the elevated status of the layout – a spectacular Nick Faldo-designed track where golfers encounter tropical jungle, ocean sand dunes, and rice paddies – is shared between man, machinery and beast. “We are pretty sure it’s a first in this part of the world to have animals performing such an important role on the golf course,” said Adam Calver, Director of Golf at Laguna Golf Lang Co, of the work carried out by father Tu Phat, mother Chi Chi and their calf, Bao

For most golfers, winning a trophy at a golf tournament is hard. The lucky draw prizes are something that they look forward to. So place emphasis on this to avoid causing a riot! BY PATRICK HO SENG Pro golfers that you see on TV make the game look easy. The images of stars like Tiger Woods inspire golfers to work harder on their game at the practice range... all in the quest to win a trophy or two of their own. But, the reality is that most of us are bogged down by work and family commitments. Going for lessons, practicing and playing golf has become a luxury to say the least. Playing in an amateur tournament is a big deal for the majority. Some even have sleepless nights thinking of the course layout and where to land the ball! But in fair truthfulness, most would not have a chance of making it into the top 10 of the gross category if they have not been practicing and playing regularly. A trophy has eluded thousands who try, and try again. So why waste time pla

PHOTO: LAGARDERE SPORTS Sentosa, Singapore, January 20:  Thailand’s Jazz Janewattananond found his winning rhythm when he closed with a six-under-par 65 to take home the SMBC Singapore Open trophy for his third Asian Tour title and also seal his passage to The Open on Sunday. The 23-year-old arrived in Singapore on the back of a rich vein of form to establish himself as one of the genuine contenders for the prestigious SMBC Singapore Open trophy at the start of the week.  He did not disappoint as he shrugged off the challenges of a host of quality players including Sergio Garcia, Paul Casey and Davis Love III to become the third Thai after Thaworn Wiratchant (2001) and Prayad Marksaeng (2017) to lift his third Asian Tour title with a winning total of 18-under-par 266. "I wasn’t expecting to win actually. I was going for The Open ticket. I felt the pressure when I got to the back nine today. I had a three-shot lead after turning in 21.
