A Malaysian in New York

Coming from a tropical country, travelling to New York or "the Big Apple" as they call it was quite an eye-opening experience. Walking along Fifth Avenue or Times Square was quite overwhelming to say the least. It seemed like there were a zillion people from planet earth walking on these streets. Culture shock? Not really. As a Malaysian, we are accustomed to a melting pot of races and cultures. The only difference is that we do not drive on the right side of the road and our cars are not left hand drive-configured. The Malaysian Highway Holiday Crawl

This Sunday is Hari Raya Haji in Malaysia. This means that Monday is a holiday. And, just like other countries it will be a long weekend. Malaysia has more holidays than most countries anyway. Travelling from Kuala Lumpur earlier tonight on the North-South Highway to Melaka was a crawl. This is a common habit or way of life for Malaysians. We all love our weekend and holiday drives. The jam wasn't that bad. The fast lane just had too many slow cars doing 110km/h. But then, safety is more important .Most humans just love speed and bragging that they arrived at a destination faster than the other person. The rest stops were packed with families having dinner at 8pm, while the toilets had many visitors. It was a typical holiday exercise. But no one is complaining. Its time for some R&R!
